In my work across industries as diverse as technology, entertainment, healthcare, management consulting, and creative agencies, I’ve consistently seen that trust is the best binding agent for high-performing, award-winning teams. No amount of pressure, authority, policy or procedures can make a team perform at peak levels, if they lack that foundation of trust and aren’t having open, honest conversations.
Customized Team Facilitation
Building that trust will be a different process for each team, because they’re all starting somewhere different, and have different definitions of success. I’ll work closely with a leader and HR Business partner to grasp the business context, understand the leader’s vision for the team, get to know the team members, and develop and facilitate an experiential program that delivers what outcomes the leader needs to achieve.
Some challenges that I’ve helped leaders to address
- A team that’s not aligned on vision and values, which produces confusion and hinders results
- A team going through a re-organization or confronting complexity and growth. In this case, we focused on resilience, having honest conversations, and building trust so the team could work effectively even in the swirl of change.
- A team that has grown and gone global; how to build trust and stay connected as a primarily virtual team
- Shaking bad habits – when team members hold back, hide what they mean, and avoid difficult conversations.
- Creating inclusive teams and a culture where everyone feels seen, valued and heard. I’ve helped leaders create a stronger culture by coaching them to practice active listening, empathy, and find allies who help amplify the voices of under-represented members of the team
- Creating a safe space so people can get “real” with one another. This is a critical step in learning from each other and truly experiencing the benefits of diverse opinions, ideas, and backgrounds.
